Dystonia Benefit Concert Brings Omaha and New York City Together for One Night!
One-of-a-kind Concert to Bring Help and Hope To Suffering Families

 

OMAHA, NEBRASKA /September 8, 2008/ - Carmelita International Entertainment Music Production Inc. announced today that it will be sponsoring and producing a major benefit concert on April 16, 2009 at The Holland Performing Arts Center to raise money for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF). The name of the concert is “Watch What Happens: When Omaha Meets New York City!” What happens when the music and emotions of these two very different cities come together? A very special night that is sure to leave a lasting impression with the audience while helping to support a cause that gives people with Dystonia help and hope for a brighter tomorrow.This benefit concert will feature live performances from well-known musicians Paul Serrato and Co., Michael Murphy and Carmelita De LaGuardia with the The Classical Strings Quartet. Each group will bring their unique blend of musical styles together for one night to create something very special and unforgettable.Paul Serrato and Co. have been a dominant force in the jazz genre for the past five decades. They have  enjoyed broad success with their six recorded independent albums both nationally and internationally. They have also received acclaim from their music which has been heard on tv programs including: The History Channel, The Biography Channel, Sex and the City and numerous film documentaries. Their music delivers a rich variety of rythms that expresses their life experiences and captures the musical listeners imagination like no other. Paul Serrato has his own music production company, Graffiti Productions based in New York City. He was born in Omaha and now lives in New York City.

Michael Murphy has recorded five independent albums; the most recent two (Trail of Tears and Peace) feature his recent interest in meditative, instrumental music. Along with his aclaimed guitar and flute work on these albums, he is a very experienced singer songwriter, and has been repeatedly invited to participate in songwriting contests and workshops at regional folk festivals. His music often discusses socially conscious themes, such as civil rights, peace, family values, and the environment, and in the tradition of American folk music.

Carmelita De La Guardia is a well-known entertainer that performs international music in English, Spanish and Italian. Her classic style pop and jazz tunes are featured on her second independent album, “Enchanting Voice”. She combines her charisma and warm personality to deliver a elegant entertainment experience that leaves her audiences captivated and with a profound appreciation for Spanish and Italian music. Her focus is bringing class and romance back into musical entertainment. She will be supported by The Classical Strings Quartet on the night of the benefit concert. 

The Classical Strings Quartet is comprised of four well-known musicians whose repertoire includes celebrated baroque, classical and romantic music as well as show tunes, folk music and arrangements of popular songs.
